Spent Acids

Nitration Spent Acids

Spent acids resulting from nitration processes, e. g.

  • Polyurethane intermediates (DNT/TDI, NB/MDI)
  • Alcohols and Ketones (SBA/MEK)
  • Nitrocellulose (NC)
  • Fibres (Aramid, PAN, etc.)
  • Lacquers
  • TNT
  • RDX
  • PETN
  • NGL, etc.
  • Stabilisation by chemothermical treatment

Stabilisation

For stabilisation the spent acids are treated in a chemo-thermical process step, where organic compounds are decomposed in a safe and controlled manner.

The treatment conditions are tailor made for the contaminants to avoid foam formation or spontaneous development of gas.

Denitration DEN®

By stripping in a special column using air or steam dissolved nitrous gases originating from the nitration process or generated during the stabilisation step are removed.

The nitric gases can be recovered as Nitric Acid using the PLINKE pressure absorption unit.
